Take Responsibility

I created this blog to respond directly to those posting their personal stories who are taking part in the Occupy Wall Street protests or claiming to be 'the 99 percent'.
wearethe99percent:

I am a Food Stamps caseworker, and I stand in solidarity with my clients.  Many are looking for work.  Many have children.  Many are elderly or disabled.  They all deserve better than this.  I am thankful to have a job, but I hope for a day when my services are no longer needed.  We are the 99%.

They “deserve” better based on what? It’s ok to help temporarily but as you said “many” are looking for work, not all. And “looking” doesn’t get the job done. They need to bust their asses to find a job, doesn’t matter if they are job hunting 16+ hours a day which I GUARANTEE you they are not (or an extremely tiny fraction). No job is beneath someone and every job market has tons of work available, IF SOMEONE IS WILLING TO DO IT.
Also, a little money can go a LONG way. Get on a plan! Rice and beans, beans and rice my friends…literally. Many people have done this during hard times or to simply get out of debt, it’s not a matter of what you deserve. I can sit here all day thinking up things I “deserve” or I can get off my ass and do something about it.
